I thought the other day 'it's been a while since I played with flowers' (as you do) and so I bought myself a bunch of my favourites … gerberas. They're a member of the sunflower family Asteracae … daisies really. There's something about them that does it for me … they have myriad facets, they have symmetry and a range of colours … they're as fun from beneath as they are beautiful on top. Put a water drop on them and there's fun and beauty for all. Here's a selection:
Do you have a favourite flower? Or a favourite thing to take pictures of? Or even just a favourite thing?
Do tell π
Beautiful photographs, Geoffrey. ILove gerberas too, such a happy flower! I guess one of my most favourite things are owls. Im not a mad owl lady though, very selective about what I like !. I would love to phortograph a Barn owl, they are so beautiful. ( and re reading this, I do sound a bit weird…..) π x
Nothing wrong with weird … well certainly not around here Judith π
oops, photograph…sounds like I have an accent !
Hehehe … I like you with an accent … I think it works! π
seems like you love changing your outfit as often as i do π love those macros, especially the second and the last one!
Hehe π
Thanks! I'm easily bored … does it show? I still haven't found the perfect combination of features in a template yet … this one comes close π
i know exactly what you mean. everday i think about buying the avid-theme but then i'm not sure enough π
Oh yes … that Avid theme is a nice one π let me know when you do so I can check it out π
Always enjoy your creative approch and experimentation–they each have a whimsy that captivates. But the waterdroplets are my favorites, especially image six. It plays with my mind, producing a commentary on the yin/yang of our world.
Hi Sally … thank you π
producing a commentary on the yin/yang of our world … I like that!
Favorite flowers . . . cherry blossom, roses, blue bonnets, magnolias, and iris. Love your macro shots.
Reading your list reminds me that I love those ones too … I would love to see the cherry blossoms in Japan and the rhododendron forests in parts of China … so many beautiful flowers!
oh, these are stunning. you should get playful more often π
Thank you π
I had quite the playful time on the weekendΒ … just wait to see what’s coming next π
love the droplets … beautiful !
Thanks mate!
Play time has never looked so good.
I like playtime!
Playing with flowers and waters…lovely. The picture before the last with the large drop is my favourite, so beautiful.
I don’t have a favourite flower or thing. Or maybe it’s books, I’ve always loved books and words, the rustling of pages. But then are so many wonderful things out there, always something new and unexpected. Today it’s a hotel in Zurich, one of the best places I’ve ever seen. Makes me think about that quote from ‘American Beauty’ once again:
“Sometimes there’s so much beauty in the world I feel like I can’t take it, like my heart’s going to cave in”
It’s a special sound that one … the rustling of pages. So much so that they attempt to replicate it in e-bboks when you ‘turn’ the page … personally I find the use of those sound sapmles annoying mostly because the sound is disembodied … it has no feel … you cannot sense its creation in the subtle friction in your fingers as they handle the paper.
Thank you always π
these are absolutely gorgeous!
I am terrible at naming a favourite anything & it tends to change depending on what I've been doing/thinking of – I suppose nice light is probably one of the main things I love in photography. But then there are droplets, spider-webs, dandelions, sunrises, feathers, gerberas, parsely seeds, daisies, salvias, people….
Thanks Vickie … it is hard sometimes … there are so may beautiful things to admire π
Love this set, I'm a sucker for daisies and poppies
Oh yes poppies! Can’t forget those π
Lush and lovely!
Two of my favourite words Elena π
WOW !! WOW!! WOW!! I HAVE NEVER SEEN FLOWERS !!! JUST AMAZING!!! I like taking pictures of flowers, too but I never thought of such inventive ways to take them as you have. My real passion for photos I can say are "clouds" followed by trees, water, plants, animals – wild and tame – and ending with people. But clouds get me every time! Thank you so much for the exquisite pictures!!!
Oh clouds … I love taking pictures of clouds too.
Actually, you've just made me want to pick something "favorite" to start taking pictures of. Hmmmm. I'll really have to come up with something good. I do "collect" bikes and gable stones and weathervanes…and windmills. Maybe that counts? π
Bikes and gable stones and weathervanes! Do you often find yourself giving in to hoarder tendencies?
So many wonderful shades of dreamy . . .. the all-seeing droplets are spectacular!
Dreamy droplets are a specialty of mine Patti π
