Friday Carasmello Lushpuppy 1999-2013
Last Thursday we made the decision to have beloved family member Friday put to sleep. She had been with us for 14 years
Friday had been suffering a degenerative spinal condition and went downhill rapidly. She was an elderly dog and up until a month ago had been going on hour-long walks as she had every day of her life. However we were not prepared really for just how quickly she deteriorated. She in many ways defined our family's relationship and her passing is deeply felt. I'm OK now but was a mess last week.
The veterinarian came to the house on Thursday morning. She was put to sleep after being surrounded by those who knew and loved her. The end was very quick. She was buried at her second home at the out-laws farm overlooking the hills she loved to roam.
Bye sweet girl … you'll be missed.
Lovely tribute–I know the heartache from the loss of a pet. It's truly as though a family member has departed.
Thank you Sally ๐
I am so sorry. Such a hard decision. They wind their paws into our heart strings and take a piece of us with them when they go don't they?
Thanks Sue, it was the right decision but it didn’t make it any easier. Thankfully the final bit was quick and she felt nothing except a sweet relief I suspect … at least I’m bursting into tears every time I think of her now ๐
oh no, I remember us taking her for a walk. I'm so sorry to hear. thinking of you xoxoxo
Thank you dear ๐
I remember that walk too … I had forgotten you of all the people who visit here had actually met her. She went downhill really quite quickly at the end … when we first noticed how quickly she was ageing we though she would at least make out the year but things just went crap so fast… I’m glad she got to spend the morning surrounded by those she loved in her home and felt no pain at the end … I’m also glad that our vets do house calls…
Thanks for the hugs, kisses and thoughts xxoo
{hugs} so sorry to hear, she looks like a sweetie.
Thanks Vickie … oh she was a total knobhead Cattle Dog when she wanted to be … but yes she was a sweetheart really ๐
This breaks my heart. They really are like a member of the family and are greatly missed. What a beautiful dog she was and her final resting place sounds just perfect. Sending hugs from here in Ohio. xoxox
Thanks for the hugs Kathryn, they’re much appreciated ๐
She was a beautiful dog and will be very much missed … she was truly a member of the family … she’ll be off chasing kangaroos forever now ๐
Geoff, so sorry to hear about your loss of Friday. I, too, have been in the position of losing a much-loved pet – and I currently have a 14-year-old dog – so I think I understand how you feel, or at least can try to. All the best to you. Gorgeous photos.
Thank you Nigel ๐
I was hard but it was time … you will know the time when it arrives ๐
